"Let the Knife Fall..."
Our world has gone mad. You may have noticed.
Events are commonly occurring outside the boundaries of what “normal” used to be. This madness has been advancing over time but began flourishing once two presidential administrations came into authority and helped their supporters champion a regression from normalcy. Their cooperation became a license to explore how far one could go beyond the norms of our Judaeo-Christian based society and fundamental national tenets – like the Constitution – not only to get away with it but with the intention of changing our moral boundaries permanently. As the boundaries expanded, they found confidence with their success, encouraging more activity, all of which stirred their hope that one day the world would reflect their ideology. Take a moment to consider what we’ve seen… behaviors, damage, violence, alliances with evil people and groups, pursuits we’d have never imagined, all within the last 16 years.
Never have administrations so permeated the government, the country, and the world with their strength of effort. Not coincidentally, governments around the world, especially in Europe, sought to appease a minority of their citizenry who also subscribed to the same insanity we experienced domestically.
The United States is a Christian nation. Granted, not to the degree it was before secular influences softened our convictions, but Christian, nonetheless. In retrospect, it’s not difficult to recognize that this country was formed by God Himself, a nation to which He would place His will, grace, providence, and blessings, for His purposes. It’s indisputable that no other country in the world has done what we have done for ourselves and others, often sacrificially with our blood and treasure, with what He has imbued in us.
We welcome all people to our country through a legal process. We are all different, we are certainly not all Christians, but if you’d meld us together, you’d see an array of people who want to live peaceable, free lives and pursue the American dream. We are the majority. We do not subscribe to the minority platform or the government actions that eroded our values, the same values that beckoned immigrants to this country for 249 years. We are the city on a hill, and it must remain there.
So, last November, the election sent a shock wave around the world. The nonsense was over, the battle to regain our valued boundaries began. A sweeping majority refused what the minority was pushing. To say the least, the election result and its clear rebuke caused those people, living comfortably in their absurdity, began to unravel. Unravel.
They were caught by surprise. They lost an election they thought they’d win. It took them a minute to find their voice but, eventually, the volume knob was found and turned. The nation began witnessing reactions and behaviors from the unraveled that would have been comical had its gravity not been so serious, displaying maniacal convulsions from a party void of anything America wanted. They had no identity, they had nothing to offer, and it showed. It had been a masquerade of evil, void of any substance, imposed on America with the government’s help.
The length, breadth and height of their responses continue today. It’s impossible to list them all, but each public moment has revealed certain truths about the party who, had they won the election, would have taken the United States beyond the point of no return.
Since January, The Democrat Party has agreed with or supported nothing that helps the American people, only to oppose the administration. It operates in lockstep, foot soldiers of a machine, directed by unknowns, designed to destroy our country. If one knows the truth, you can hear lies, manipulations, deflections, a chorus of verbatim talking points, and hypocrisy, all to push a platform that tears at the foundation of our country. The masquerade is over. Their words and actions have stripped themselves naked before us, we now see what they are, and it is evil.
When their hollow, ridiculous responses became commonplace, it was empathetic to think that someone should stop them for their own good. But, it was also advantageous for the nation to see what they were doing, pushing themselves back further from a political recovery. The old saying, “Let the knife fall,” came to mind.
Everyone instinctively knows that if a knife falls, one does not try to catch it. But the old idiom warns against acting impulsively in a worsening situation as it may lead to greater harm. In this case, we got out of their way and watched while they got cut with each knife that they dropped on themselves.
But now the knife is on the ground. Now what?
There is a civic and spiritual obligation we should consider, but it requires self-sacrifice. First, every citizen should be keenly interested in the truth. Whatever, or however much or little you invest in that goal, make sure it is the truth. It’s a sober responsibility.
Learning the truth will help you vote correctly. “Correctly” implies that it is toward those candidates or issues that are aligned with the Constitution. Vote whenever the opportunity presents itself. Consider becoming involved in school boards or local politics – not necessarily to run for an office, but to support the efforts of those who do. Simply stated, do something. Passivity does not honor the stewardship given us.
Pray. Jesus said in Matthew 5:43-45, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” We pray for our enemies. They have been violent, so that’s not a misused term, but mostly they are an enemy of our way of life, the values we want, the country we work to maintain. We must forgive them as often as necessary, and have love dictate how we treat them. We must treat them with agape love.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that the nation God founded has an adversary, tempting some people away from what’s right, those willing to destroy God’s intended purpose. Remember, in John 10:10, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
Be wise. These are spiritual, not physical, battles. We have an enemy at our doorstep, seeking to destroy the country that God has founded. In Ephesians 6:10-17, Paul wrote, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Knowing this is a spiritual battle helps us understand why events have unfolded here and around the world. The corrosion we’ve witnessed reveals time is short and the need to reach the lost is great. Our country has long been the vanguard for the great commission. The harvest is ripe to bring hope to lost souls that need the salvation and healing that can only come from Jesus.
This administration is enjoying astounding success here and abroad despite the many hindrances it overcomes, almost daily. Since the Inauguration our values and our country have been restored and peace is being negotiated around the world. Christians should find comfort that God’s grace, will, providence, and blessings remain firmly grasped around us. Yes, this is what I voted for.
Why? For His purpose.
